A message from Coach McQuade:

As of 7/18, we are half way through the summer training schedule. The guys that are coming in are working very hard to improve strength and conditioning. Pre-season is fastly approaching. For those that are not training in the morning be sure to make an effort to get in a do some kind of strength work and you must do some kind of conditioning. You must come into camp in shape.
Remember you either get better or you get worse, nobody stays the same.
Testing for ALL JV and varsity candidates will be the week of August 11th. Everyone must test prior the first practice

The goal of the Booster Club is to help the players celebrate and remember their accomplishments for the season. Additionally, we raise funds for the Shen football program. There are many other activities to be involved in. At the 8/17 meeting we will discuss them, or you can contact Jean Strohmayer for more information. Please consider helping with any of the activities. A little help goes a long way for the team.

Every year the Booster Club gives the Varsity players a DVD with highlights of the season. Unfortunately, we have no one signed up to record the games yet. We need one or more people to video tape/record the games so we can continue this tradition.

These people would have access to the press tower at Shen and (hopefully) the press boxes at away games. Once a game is recorded, we can make copies and we have some people ready to edit the tapes for the final DVD. We are looking for one person or a team of people that can help us. We would like to have volunteer(s) before workouts, so some 2-a-day shots can be included. This is a fun way to be involved and get a great view of the games.

SPECTATOR COURTESY CODE

It is the belief that good sportsmanship on the part of spectators at high school athletic contests is as important as good sportsmanship on the part of the players. The following guidelines for spectator conduct are expected as a means of continuing and strengthening the ties that exist between competing schools. Spectators are encouraged to be actively involved in positive behaviors that promote enthusiastic support for our interscholastic teams. Spectators should cheer for our teams rather than against others. Discourteous or unsportsmanlike behaviors are unacceptable. No spectator should be involved in any of the following actions:

  • "No one shall throw any object on to the playing surface. This action is equally dangerous to Shen athletes, other participants and spectators.
  • "No one shall use unacceptable language when cheering or engage in any cheer that is demeaningto a team or an individual (players, coaches, referees, or other spectators)
  • "No sound producing devices shall be used. This includes horns of any type, whistles, drums, etc.
